The city of Waukesha's bid to use Lake Michigan for its drinking water turns out to be pretty unpopular, everywhere but Waukesha.
The latest Marquette University Law School poll shows 51% of Wisconsin voters surveyed believe Waukesha should find another solution to its water contamination problem.
Only 34% support the Lake Michigan plan, and the numbers are similar when you break down the state by markets. Except in Waukesha County, where 56% support the diversion.
The Waukesha proposal is currently under consideration by great lakes governors and leaders in Canada and some reports suggest the plan might not survive their scrutiny.
